Current Events
BARAGA COUNTY:
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training is offered twice
a year in cooperation with the Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
Welding Training is provided through the L'Anse Area
Schools in cooperation with local manufacturing firms. This 100 hour
course prepares trainees for entry level employment in the area.
GOGEBIC COUNTY:
Certified Nurse
Aide (CNA) training is offered continuously throughout the year
using Gogebic Community College and the Gogebic Co. Medical Care
Facility as training providers.
HOUGHTON COUNTY:
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training is offered continuously
throughout the year using the Copper Country Intermediate School
District and Gogebic Community College as training providers.

IRON COUNTY:
Welding Training is offered at
the West Iron School District on an as needed basis. This 100 hour
course prepares trainees for entry level employment in the area.
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
training is offered at least twice a year through the Iron County
Community Schools. The demand for CNA's is significant in Iron
County.
ONTONAGON COUNTY:
CNA Training is provided twice a
year through Maple Manor Nursing Facility.
TRUCK DRIVING TRAINING:
In 2006, Class A CDL classes
will be offered throughout the region beginning in April. Small
classes (3 to 4 trainees each) will be conducted in each County
combining classroom and on-the-road instruction leading to Class A
CDL certification.
GED INSTRUCTION: Open entry, open
exit GED classes are held throughout the year providing individualized
instruction to prepare students to pass the five GED tests.
Instruction takes place at the MI WORKS offices with a flexible
schedule offering daytime, evening, and weekend classes. |
